AbstractDifferent kinds of static and dynamic heterogeneity at the glass transition are discussed in relation to recent experiments. Heterogeneous lengths are distinguished from cooperative length scales - in particular, in geometrically confined systems - and these are compared with finite-size effects in computer simulations.
